Solveig Phyllis Rocher é uma artista performática franco-inglesa. Usa a dança, o desenho, a escrita e a voz (cantada ou falada) para trabalhar ideias de erosão, arquivo, reprodução e repetição, mimetismo e esquecimento. Durante 2020 foi Artista-Arquivista residente do Teatro Municipal do Porto, produzindo a performance multimédia “As Peças Residuais”. Em 2022 apresentou “Naked Constructions”, um solo dançado, cantado e falado sobre fazer um solo dançado, cantado e falado.

Solveig Phyllis Rocher is a French-English performance artist. She uses dance, drawing, writing, and voice (sung or spoken) to work through ideas of erasure, archive, reproduction and repetition, mimetism, and forgetting.

During 2020, she was a resident Artist-Archivist of the Teatro Municipal do Porto, producing the multi-media performance The Residual Pieces. In 2022, she presented Naked Constructions, a danced, sung, and spoken solo about making a danced, sung, and spoken solo.

Solveig tem pensado em pássaros e já há um tempo que o faz. Durante o confinamento, aprendeu os nomes de todos os pássaros que passaram à frente da sua janela. Aprendeu os seus hábitos, a reconhecê-los pelo voo, pelo canto e pelos padrões das suas penas. Pensou mesmo que talvez quisesse ser um pássaro, desviando-se correndo caindo pairando subindo. O que a fascina ao vê-los voar é que parece que estão constantemente à beira de cair e se eles caírem, sabemos que podem morrer. Enquanto esperava que as suas roupas se lavassem, na lavanderia, leu um dia que pular é o ato de desafio contra a gravidade e, portanto, pode ser a forma mais próxima dos humanos serem pássaros.

I've been thinking about birds. I've been thinking about birds for a while now. I learned the names of all the birds I could see outside my window during the confinement. I learned their habits, I learned to recognize them by their flight, I learned to recognize them by their song and by their feather patterns. Maybe I was wishing I was a bird.

What's so beautiful about watching them fly is that they seem constantly on the verge of falling and you know if they fall they'll die

Last week in the launderette, while the machine washed my clothes, I read that jumping is THE

act of defiance against gravity and it might be the closest thing humans get to be like birds.
