João Maria André nasceu em 1954, em Monte Real, Leiria. Licenciou-se em Filosofia na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra (1979). Foi professor catedrático, ensinando nas áreas da Filosofia, da Cultura e do Teatro. É autor de «Renascimento e Modernidade: do poder da magia à magia do poder» (1987), «Sentido, simbolismo e interpretação no discurso filosófico de Nicolau de Cusa» (1997), «Pensamento e afectividade» (1999), «Multiculturalidade, identidades e mestiçagem: o diálogo intercultural nas ideias, na política, nas artes e na religião» (2012), «Jogo, corpo e teatro, a arte de fazer amor com o tempo» (2016), «12 proposições sobre livros, leitura e hospitalidade», com desenhos de Pedro Pousada (2021) e «Renascimento e Modernidade: releituras filosóficas» (2022), entre outros obras. Além da docência e da investigação, tem desenvolvido uma intensa atividade cultural, nomeadamente através da tradução, dramaturgia e encenação na Cooperativa Bonifrates e no Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente, de que foi diretor, de 2001 a 2005.

João Maria André was born in 1954 in Monte Real, Leiria. Graduated in Philosophy from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Coimbra (1979), he was a full professor, teaching in the areas of Philosophy, Culture and Theatre. He is the author, among other books, of “Renaissance and Modernity: from the power of magic to the magic of power” (1987), “Meaning, symbolism and interpretation in the philosophical discourse of Nicolau de Cusa” (1997), “Thought and affectivity” (1999), “Multiculturality, identities and miscegenation: or intercultural dialogue in ideas, politics, arts and religion” (2012), “Play, body and theatre, the art of making love with time” (2016), “12 propositions about books, reading and hospitality”, with drawings of Pedro Pousada (2021) and “Renaissance and Modernity: philosophical re-readings” (2022). In addition to teaching and research, he has developed an intense cultural activity, namely through translation, dramaturgy and staging at Cooperativa Bonifrates, in Coimbra, and at the Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente, of which he was director, from 2001 to 2005.

Seminário sobre éticas do cuidado  [Laboratório]

A partir das suas próprias investigações, o filósofo trabalhará com os participantes do Laboratório o conceito das éticas do cuidado e da hospitalidade e de como estas podem ser mobilizadas nos processos de criação, na relação com as criações artísticas na sua fragilidade e vulnerabilidade, na inscrição no território e no respeito pelo outro, interlocutor incontornável de qualquer criação artística.

Seminar on Ethics of Care  [Laboratory]

Based on his own investigations, this philosopher will work with the Laboratory participants on the concept of the ethics of care and hospitality and how these can be mobilized in the creation processes, in the relationship with artistic creations in their fragility and vulnerability, in the inscription in the territory and in the respect for the other, unavoidable interlocutor of any artistic creation.
