Mariana Tengner Barros (1982) é coreógrafa, bailarina, performer e diretora artística d’ A BelaAssociação.
Coreografou e executou inúmeras peças a solo e em grupo, salientando The Trap (vencedor do Prêmio do Público Jardin D'Europe-Áustria em 2011), EXI(s)T(s) (2018), Instructions for the gods (2017), A Power Ballad (2013) e Resurrection (2017), ambas cocriações com Mark Tompkins. O seu trabalho é alimentado pelo seu fascínio pelo “espetáculo” da vida, pela forma como as pessoas se representam e apresentam nos planos sociais da existência e pelas tensões entre mundos. Na última década tem investigado em torno da figura da bruxa, a sua ligação com o sagrado feminino e símbolo de rebelião contra a opressão. A dança é a base para um trabalho altamente multidisciplinar, com uma forte contribuição musical dos músicos colaboradores Jonny Kadaver e Mee_K. Combina o seu trabalho como criadora e performer com o ensino em diferentes contextos, bem como com o trabalho de ação social, nomeadamente o projeto continuado Floresta Invisível, focado na defesa de árvores centenárias e na promoção da consciência ambiental. A improvisação é uma ferramenta constante nas suas práticas e trabalhos, tanto ao nível da investigação como da criação. Como performer destaca as colaborações com Meg Stuart, Francisco Camacho e John Romão. É cantora e teclista da banda KUNDALINI XS. Em 2016 recebeu o Prémio de Mérito Cultural Municipal da Câmara Municipal de Vila Nova de Famalicão pelo seu percurso profissional.
Mariana Tengner Barros (1982) is a choreographer, dancer, performer and artistic director of A Bela Associação.
She has choreographed and performed numerous solo and group works, including The Trap (winner of the Jardin d’Europe Audience Award – Austria, 2011), EXI(s)T(s) (2018), Instructions for the Gods (2017), A Power Ballad (2013) and Resurrection (2017), the latter two co-created with Mark Tompkins. Her work is driven by a fascination with the “spectacle” of life, the ways people represent and present themselves within social planes of existence, and the tensions between worlds. Over the past decade, she has been researching the figure of the witch, her connection to the feminine sacred, and her symbolism as a form of rebellion against oppression. Dance forms the foundation of a highly multidisciplinary practice, with a strong musical contribution from collaborators Jonny Kadaver and Mee_K. She combines her work as creator and performer with teaching in various contexts, as well as social action work, notably the ongoing project Floresta Invisível, focused on the protection of century-old trees and the promotion of environmental awareness. Improvisation is a constant tool in her practice, both in research and creation. As a performer, she has collaborated with Meg Stuart, Francisco Camacho and John Romão. She is a singer and keyboardist in the band KUNDALINI XS. In 2016, she received the Municipal Cultural Merit Award from the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão for her professional career.
