Mais uma Conversa com a Academia, onde partimos da investigação de Carlota Lagido. Partindo das questões levantadas por O Mapa das Indomesticadas, esta conversa propõe pensar as relações que estabelecemos com as plantas e com os territórios que habitamos. Entre a identificação e classificação das espécies e os saberes construídos pela experiência, pela memória, pelo desenho ou pelo corpo, interessa-nos questionar as fronteiras entre diferentes modos de conhecer e perceber a natureza.
Se o jardim pode ser entendido como uma natureza organizada pelo olhar e pela ação humana, o que acontece com aquilo que cresce à margem dessa ordem? O “indomesticado” torna-se aqui uma possibilidade de deslocar o olhar: para as espécies espontâneas e silvestres, para aquilo que resiste ao controlo e para as relações ecológicas que existem para além das formas humanas de organizar a paisagem.
Investigador Convidado: João Farminhão
Investigador de nível inicial no CFE/DCV. É Docteur en Sciences pela Université libre de Bruxelles (2021), onde se especializou em botânica. As suas principais linhas de investigação são a taxonomia de orquídeas afrotropicais, taxonomia, história natural e conservação da flora do Mediterrâneo Ocidental e história das coleções botânicas em Portugal. A descoberta de novas espécies de plantas com flor em Portugal é a contribuição de maior impacto social da sua investigação. Estes achados botânicos, com importantes implicações para a conservação da biodiversidade, inscrevem-se na necessidade de construir conceitos diferenciadores do património natural local.
«Conversas com a Academia» é uma iniciativa de Linha de Fuga que, desde 2021, promove um diálogo entre investigações académicas e artísticas.

Another Conversation with Academia, this time taking Carlota Lagido’s research as our starting point. Drawing on the questions raised by O Mapa das Indomesticadas, this conversation invites us to reflect on the relationships we establish with plants and with the territories we inhabit. Between the identification and classification of species and forms of knowledge built through experience, memory, drawing or the body, we are interested in questioning the boundaries between different ways of knowing and perceiving nature.
If the garden can be understood as nature organised through human perception and action, what happens to that which grows at the margins of this order? Here, the ‘untamed’ becomes a possibility for shifting our gaze: towards spontaneous and wild species, towards that which resists control, and towards ecological relationships that exist beyond human ways of organising the landscape.
Guest Researcher: João Farminhão
Junior researcher at CFE/DCV. He holds a Docteur en Sciences from the Université libre de Bruxelles (2021), where he specialised in botany. His main research areas include the taxonomy of Afrotropical orchids; the taxonomy, natural history and conservation of the flora of the Western Mediterranean; and the history of botanical collections in Portugal. The discovery of new species of flowering plants in Portugal has been the contribution of his research with the greatest social impact. These botanical findings, which have important implications for biodiversity conservation, form part of the broader need to develop distinctive concepts for understanding and recognising local natural heritage.
"Conversations with Academia" is a Linha de Fuga initiative that, since 2021, has fostered dialogue between academic and artistic research.
