‘Mostra-me o teu lar antes de mudares de país.’ É esta a pergunta que inicia uma série de viagens ao mundo através do Google Street View.
Do desejo de boa conversa, convido imigrantes não-europeus em Portugal para partilharem comigo os seus lugares físicos, emocionais e subjectivos.
Home edifica-se a partir da tríade presença - ausência - pertença, enquanto procura e encontra reflexões sobre nacionalidade, fronteira, tecnologia, memória, identidade e arte.
Pretende, ainda, ser uma investigação íntima ao significado da palavra casa.
A matéria fundadora desta criação é o conceito de lar, todos os tentáculos que dele brotam e como se altera, transforma, expande ou comprime, depois de um processo de migração.
O processo de pesquisa de Home está sobretudo assente em encontros com (i)migrantes não-europeus em Portugal. Cada conversa/encontro inicia-se da mesma forma: “ mostra-me a tua casa, o sítio que consideras ter sido o teu lar, antes de emigrares”. Para fazer essa viagem, utilizamos o Google Street View e o Google Earth. O encontro é registado pela webcam que filma os rostos, e é também gravado o desktop do computador. Cada encontro é único, decorre sem regras ou constrangimentos, e produz material próprio e intimamente conectado à pessoa que o gerou a partir da viagem.
Durante e depois de cada encontro, fixo pequenos detalhes ou informações geradas na conversa e que me interessam guardar e explorar. Podem ser de qualquer natureza - artísticos, estéticos, históricos, culturais, sociais, políticos, biográficos, ecológicos, relativos a questões de identidade ou direitos-humanos, entre outros. Esta matéria é posteriormente transformada em pesquisa online, coleccionada e guardada até ser recuperada durante o espectáculo.
No fundo, a natureza dos vários discursos é proposta e comunicada pelas próprias pessoas com quem converso, ou seja, a dramaturgia do espectáculo é feita por cada interveniente do projeto.
O meu lugar enquanto criadora será o de uma arquiteta de conteúdos, uma espécie de coreógrafa digital que compõe partituras feitas de conversas e informação. Informação que é matéria volátil do mundo online e por mim descoberta e recolhida, após gerada em contexto de conversa íntima.
‘Show me your home before you moved to another country.’ This is the question that starts a series of world trips through Google Street View. From the desire for a good conversation, I invite non-European immigrants in Portugal to share with me their physical, emotional and subjective places. Home is built from the triad presence - absence - belonging, while looking for and finding reflections on nationality, frontier, technology, memory, identity and art. It is also intended to be an intimate investigation into the meaning of the word home.
The founding material of this creation is the concept of home, all the tentacles that sprout from it and how it changes, transforms, expands or compresses, after a process of migration.Home's research process is mainly based on encounters with non-European (i)migrants in Portugal. Each conversation/meeting starts in the same way: “show me your home, the place you consider to have been your home, before you emigrated”. To make this trip, we use Google Street View and Google Earth.
The encounter is recorded by webcam that films the faces, and the computer's desktop is also recorded. Each encounter is unique, takes place without rules or constraints, and produces its own material, intimately connected to the person who generated it from the trip. During and after each meeting, I fix small details or information generated in the conversation that I am interested in keeping and exploring. They can be of any nature - artistic, aesthetic, historical, cultural, social, political, biographical, ecological, relating to issues of identity or human rights, among others. This material is later transformed into online research, collected and stored until retrieved during the performance.Basically, the nature of the various speeches is proposed and communicated by the people I talk to, that is, the dramaturgy of the show is done by each participant in the project.My place as a creator will be that of a content architect, a kind of digital choreographer who composes scores made of conversations and information. Information that is volatile material in the online world and that I discovered and collected, after being generated in the context of an intimate conversation.
