Na terça-feira, dia 30 de Janeiro, pelas 18h na Rádio Baixa ou por streaming no facebook de Linha de Fuga, o público é convidado a assistir e participar em mais uma Conversa com a Academia. Neste dia, a artista Raquel André conversa com um investigador académico sobre o mesmo foco de trabalho de investigação, desde duas perspectivas distintas. Num dispositivo simples de participação com algumas regras de etiqueta que ativam a escuta, ambos abordam os seus pontos de vista sobre o que significa pertencer, o que agrega e o que limita a nível social.
Mote da Conversa: Raquel está a desenvolver uma nova coleção de pessoas através da ligação genética. A sua investigação pretende descobrir onde estão os seus parentes genéticos para lhes fazer perguntas simples sobre os seus lugares de pertença. Mas quer aproveitar esta pesquisa de genoma e complicar as informações científicas dos testes genéticos cruzando-as com questões como: direito à privacidade, direito a conhecer a nossa ancestralidade, o (ab)uso das bases de dados genéticas na discriminação de minorias ou a descolonização de narrativas hegemónicas sobre a inscrição do conceito de pertença (um país, uma cultura, uma língua, uma família). Onde estão as igualdades de oportunidades? O que é vedado a uns e outros e como lidamos com esta incongruência do mundo capitalista?
«Conversas com a Academia» é uma iniciativa de Linha de Fuga que promove um diálogo entre investigações académicas e artísticas, em colaboração com o Observatório Masculinidades do Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra.
On Tuesday, January 30th, at 6pm on Rádio Baixa or via streaming on Linha de Fuga's Facebook page, the public is invited to watch and participate in another Conversation with the Academy. On this day, the artist Raquel André talks to an academic researcher about the same focus of their research work, from two different perspectives. In a simple participation device with some rules of etiquette that activate listening, both discuss their points of view on what it means to belong, what adds and what limits on a social level.
Conversation Motto: Raquel is developing a new collection of people through genetic connection. Her research aims to find out where her genetic relatives are so she can ask them simple questions about where they belong. But it wants to take advantage of this genome research and complicate the scientific information from genetic tests by crossing it with issues such as: the right to privacy, the right to know our ancestry, the (ab)use of genetic databases in the discrimination of minorities or decolonization of hegemonic narratives about the inscription of the concept of belonging (a country, a culture, a language, a family). Where are the equal opportunities? What is prohibited from both and how do we deal with this incongruity in a capitalist world?
«Conversations with the Academy» is a Linha de Fuga initiative that promotes a dialogue between academic and artistic investigations, in collaboration with the Masculinities Observatory of the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra.
