Linha de Fuga propõe a Raquel André abrir as portas do seu espaço de trabalho e convidar o público de Coimbra a visitar o processo que a artista está a desenvolver em Coimbra.
Depois de várias viagens pelo mundo, esta é a última residência de criação antes da estreia, a 15 de Março, no Rivoli - Teatro Municipal do Porto, uma oportunidade para entender as questões e as formas de colectar informação sobre genética e de a construir numa obra artística.
Belonging | E di | Pertenencia | Zugehörigkeit | Pertença | 絆 é uma viagem por possíveis encontros com o sentimento de pertença.
Encontrar pessoas, conhecer as suas histórias pessoais, de vida, de memórias cheias de futuro. Esta investigação que se transformará num espetáculo que poderia ser uma sessão de cinema performativo sugere uma imersão à complexidade da ideia de pertencimento. A partir da importância do mapeamento genético das populações humanas através de testes de ADN, até às problemáticas éticas, políticas, geográficas, sociais e económicas desses mesmos dados, às narrativas sobre pertença como um sentimento e esse sim uma propriedade a ser urgentemente mapeada. Um espetáculo onde as imagens e a música ao vivo formam tentativas de captura do sentimento de pertença, são movimentos poéticos de contar a história pessoal de alguém.
Dando continuidade à sua metodologia de trabalho - encontrar pessoas e partilhar histórias - em Belonging | E di | Pertenencia | Zugehörigkeit | Pertença | 絆, Raquel André e a sua equipa encontram-se com pessoas da Guiné-Bissau, do México, do Brasil, de Portugal, do Japão, da Alemanha, para conversarem sobre pertença.
A quem, a quê ou onde sentes que pertences?
Uma pergunta difícil, uma resposta mutante que promete encontros inesquecíveis.
Neste projecto Raquel não estará em cena, será um espetáculo que poderia ser uma sessão de cinema com música ao vivo. A equipa desta criação conta com a colaboração de Bernardo de Almeida, Gisela Casimiro, Francisco Fidalgo, Herlander, Wilma Moutinho, José António Tenente, Missanga e Aliu Baio.
Aliu Baio que estará em cena a tocar bateria, também será protagonista da sua própria história sobre pertença - Aliu nasceu na Guiné-Bissau mas desde os 9 anos que vive em Portugal, com este projeto irá regressar às suas memórias de infância e reencontrando a sua família. Neste retorno à Guiné-Bissau, que em conjunto com a equipa do projeto, documentou em video as memórias que ainda lhe aparecem em sonhos, as memórias que tem de quando ainda tinha visão - Aliu é um homem cego.
Raquel e a sua equipa dirigem-se de seguida à Cidade do México para encontrar a Dra. Sandra Romero Hidalgo, investigadora de genoma humano. Consultora científica com quem Raquel trabalha em colaboração desde 2020, numa pesquisa artística e científica sobre o sentimento de pertença na relação com os testes de ADN. No México irão também documentar encontros com outras pessoas que realizaram testes de ADN e que as suas histórias de vida atravessam histórias em que a ideia de pertença atravessa questões sobre ancestralidade, geopolítica, cultura, identidade.
Linha de Fuga proposes to Raquel André to open the doors of her work space and invite the public of Coimbra to visit the process that the artist is developing in Coimbra. After several trips around the world, this is the last creative residency before it premieres, on March 15th, at Rivoli - Teatro Municipal do Porto, an opportunity to understand the issues and ways of collecting information about genetics and building it into an artistic work.
Belonging | E di | Pertenencia | Zugehörigkeit | Pertença | 絆 is a journey through possible encounters with a feeling of belonging. Meeting people, learning about their personal stories, their lives, their memories full of the future. This investigation, which will turn into a show that could be a performative cinema session, suggests an immersion into the complexity of the idea of belonging. From the importance of genetic mapping of human populations through DNA tests, to the ethical, political, geographic, social and economic issues of these same data, to the narratives about belonging as a feeling and indeed a property to be urgently mapped. A show where images and live music form attempts to capture the feeling of belonging, they are poetic movements of telling someone's personal story. Continuing its work methodology - finding people and sharing stories - in Belonging | E di | Pertenencia | Zugehörigkeit | Pertença | 絆 , Raquel André and her team meet with people from Guinea-Bissau, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Japan, Germany, to talk about belonging.
To whom, what or where do you feel you belong?A difficult question, a changing answer that promises unforgettable encounters. In this project Raquel will not be on stage, it will be a show that could be a cinema session with live music. The team behind this creation includes the collaboration of Bernardo de Almeida, Gisela Casimiro, Francisco Fidalgo, Herlander, Wilma Moutinho, José António Tenente, Missanga and Aliu Baio. Aliu Baio, who will be on stage playing the drums, will also be the protagonist of his own story about belonging - Aliu was born in Guinea-Bissau but has lived in Portugal since the age of 9, with this project he will return to his childhood memories and reunite with his family. On this return to Guinea-Bissau, together with the project team, he documented on video the memories that still appear in his dreams, the memories he has from when he still had sight - Aliu is a blind man.
Raquel and her team then head to Mexico City to meet Dr. Sandra Romero Hidalgo, a human genome researcher. Scientific consultant with whom Raquel has worked in collaboration since 2020, on artistic and scientific research into the feeling of belonging in the relationship with DNA tests. In Mexico they will also document meetings with other people who underwent DNA tests and whose life stories cross stories in which the idea of belonging crosses questions about ancestry, geopolitics, culture, identity.
